It’s summer now, so writing nice things about Munich is a very easy thing to do. The fact that it’s my last summer in Munich (for now?) makes it even easier, because I’m romanticising everything.
If you had asked me a year and a half ago, when I was studying for my first exam here, my answer would have probably been very different. Now, I can for sure say I love Munich; for everything it is and everything it has done for me.
At first I thought Munich is just pretty. In fact it’s so pretty that the life it offers almost seems fake, too good to be true; which makes it seem, at times, soulless. But if you stay here long enough (and summer comes🤪), and you look past the pretentious side of Munich, past the shiny cars and fancy bars, you’ll find that the city does have a soul— and it’s actually not that pretentious after all.
It’s somehow very pure, and full of life, and full of love for life. It’s full of old people walking hand in hand, it’s full of students having a laugh (or a cry), full of perfect, comforting spots to discover— to drink an overpriced latte or to touch grass; to socialise or find yourself. Somewhere, between icy dips in the Isar and walks under the pretty sky, you might find the reassurance that everything will be okay.
So this, is a love letter to Munich, an ode to the way this city blooms and transforms in the summer, into a safety net, a friendly hug, a summer dream.

Germans love their kaffee & kuchen so here are my fav spots for coffees, matchas and sweet treats hihu

So many, so cute, tried hard to narrow it down. Heavy on haidhausen but it’s the best neighbourhood (in my super objective opinion) so it makes sense

Tripsss
If u have a day or two to spare u should do a hike 🥾🥾Jochberg & Wank have very pretty views and are quite close. If you’re looking for a flatter walk in nature I can really recommend Königsee. It’s a bit further away but so, so pretty.
