I’ve been visiting Folegandros every summer for the past three years, and it’s truly the island of my dreams.
Folegandros is the perfect place to relax and take in its raw natural beauty and scenic views. The island has a strong sense of quality when it comes to tourism, so you’ll find very few tourist traps here — just authentic experiences.
In this guide, I’m sharing places I’ve visited myself and totally recommend — to anyone curious about what makes this island so special to me and who wants to experience its laid-back charm, great quality food, and unforgettable landscapes.
Local Flavors :)
To be honest, the first time I visited Folegandros, I wasn’t blown away by the food. But over the years, I discovered some amazing, must-visit spots with high-quality dishes that are totally worth trying and that I would visit over and over again!
Local beaches :)
What really amazed me about Folegandros was its crystal-clear waters and the raw, untouched beauty you experience while swimming — it feels like you’re in paradise.
You can reach some beaches by car or on foot, and others only by boat. Most beaches are also accessible by hiking trails if you want to explore on foot. There are beaches on both the south and north sides of the island, so you can choose where to go depending on the wind.
Local drinks :)
Folegandros isn’t known for its wild nightlife, but here are two of my favorite bars in Chora — perfect spots to enjoy drinks with friends or a partner in the heart of the island.
Local scoops :)
***The Most Beautiful Chora🧡
Chora in Folegandros is honestly the most beautiful one I’ve seen on any island. It’s full of charm, with narrow alleys, whitewashed houses, and the cutest little shops. It’s a place you have to walk around slowly — day or night — and just take it all in.
