Kimolos is the best island. Objectively. A local says so.
Kimolos, Greece
☀️ Summer
Kimolo mou, paradeiso mou
Which translates to “My Kimolos, my paradise.” It’s a local song we love to dance and sing our hearts out to.
Kimolos is authentic, beautiful, and very small, easy to explore and hard not to love. It makes you feel familiar with the island and its people, even on your very first visit.
Yes, it’s been a bit overhyped on social media in recent years. That’s why this guide isn’t about finding places, it’s about showing you how I see the island and why I truly, deeply love it.
I’m sure you’ll fall in love with Kimolos just like the locals do.
💙
Chilling on the beach ☀️
Kimolos is full of amazing beaches either sandy or rocky, both perfect for chilling under the sun. Most of them are a bit off the beaten path, so bring a car (or a very determined pair of legs).
PS: The majority of the beaches in Kimolos are organised with sunbeds and umbrellas, however there are usually plenty of spots if you just want to kick back on the sand.o
Local bites 🎣
Okay, I’ll admit it - eating out on Kimolos isn’t exactly cheap. But the spots below? Totally worth it. Local specialties like ladenia, tyrenia or Greek salad with ksinó offer an experience that make you forget the world on the first bite. So basically, consider it an investment in happiness.
Tsipoura & drinks 🍻
Sip, savor, repeat, and maybe catch some island gossip while Kimolos works its magic.
More to Explore 🌊
Kimolos may be small, but there’s more to do than beach hopping.
1. Take a day trip to Polyaigos: rent a boat (no license needed) or join one of the local tours and explore some of the bluest waters you’ll ever see.
2. Hop on the ferry to Milos for a day: bring your car or use the bus and be back by sunset.
3. If you’re into walking and the weather conditions are ideal, check out the hiking routes on kimolos.gr. Just mind the sun. The easiest and most iconic route? From Chorio to Skiadi, the famous mushroom-shaped rock.
Grab your hat and sunscreen, put on your shoes - and off we go!
