Zorkos beach

“One of the easiest beaches to reach via dirt road , but smooth enough for any car. The water here is deep and insanely clear, perfect for a long swim. There’s a small beach bar with sunbeds and the rest of the beach is open. Just above the beach, there’s a taverna with solid food and a nice view. Best on calm days, but if it’s windy, the left side of the beach is usually more protected.”

Paralia Vitali

“There’s a beach bar, but also plenty of free area if you prefer doing your own thing. The drive down includes a "rougher" and maybe longer dirt road but nothing crazy, take it slow and you’ll be fine with any car or bike. The route is actually really scenic, and there’s a small church early on where you can stop for a breather or just take in the view. There’s even a little cliff spot if you’re into jumping. Not the best place when the wind is really strong, but it’s usually fine with a bit of breeze.”

Paralia Apothikes

“A small, chill beach that works surprisingly well even on windy days there might be a breeze, but the sea usually stays calm, so you can swim comfortably. There’s a now pretty well-known beach bar with good music and a relaxed vibe, but you can also easily sit on the free side if you’re not into sunbeds. The spot is also great for photos the bar has added a few fun props that are total Instagram bait (if that’s your thing). The dirt road down is short and smooth, about 10 minutes, nothing dramatic.”

“Similar vibe to Vitali clear water, space to do your own thing, and a beach bar that’s a bit bigger, with music and a lively atmosphere (without being too much). There’s still plenty of room if you just want to lay out away from the sunbeds. No dirt road here you drive all the way on paved roads and park just above the beach. Super easy access, which makes it a solid option if you don’t feel like any off-roading.”

“If you’re in the mood for a proper beach bar setup, Chrissi Ammos is a classic. It’s got good music, comfy sunbeds, and a really nice sandy beach …hence the name. Bonus: it’s usually quite well protected from the wind, which makes it a safe choice even on breezier days.”

Kaliva Beach Bar

“Chill beach bar with a laid-back vibe, good tunes, and a beautiful spot to spend the day. It’s not just about the daytime though they often throw nighttime parties, mostly during late July and August when the island’s buzzing. Worth keeping an eye out if you’re around then.”

Paralia Kipri

“Another beach bar spot, but this one’s great if you’re into water sports like windsurfing, SUP, whatever floats your board. The beach itself is organized, has a bar, and usually a bit more movement since it’s a popular area. Not the most remote or quiet option, but perfect if you want to mix chill beach time with some action on the water.”

Achla Beach

“One of the most well-known beaches on the island and for good reason. It’s wild, stunning, and feels untouched. Buuut… getting there isn’t exactly a walk in the park. Unless you have a 4x4, I really wouldn’t recommend driving. The road is long and rough, and it’s easy to damage a regular car (been there, regretted that). The easy way? Take a boat from Chora. It’s a relaxed ride and gets you there without stress. Just keep in mind during high season, boats can fill up fast, so call ahead or go early to grab a spot.”

Paralia Tis Grias to Pidima

“One of the most famous beaches on the island mostly because of the tall rock in the sea that gives it its name and makes it super recognizable (and very Instagrammable, tbh). It’s on the Chora side of the island, so if you’re heading there, it’s a good idea to combine your swim with a walk around town. Distances in Andros are long it’s a big island, so planning your route is key. Getting there is pretty easy: paved road all the way, then you park and walk down a short, slightly steep path. Nothing crazy, and it’s well-maintained thanks to tourism. Avoid on windy days because this beach is totally exposed to the northern winds, and the sea gets rough. Go only when it’s calmer.”

Vlychada Bay South

“Vlychada has a wilder, more raw kind of beauty the kind of beach that feels more like nature than setup. For years it had no beach bar at all, but recently one popped up on one side of the beach. The rest remains free and open, so you can still go full unplugged if that’s your thing. There’s a dirt road to get there, it’s pretty manageable but nothing dramatic. Good choice for windy days, since it’s on the more protected side of the island. Overall, a great option if you want something that’s not too crowded”

Παραλία Φελλός

“Okay, full disclaimer: this one’s close to where I stay on the island, so there’s definitely a sentimental connection. But even without that, Fellos is an easy and genuinely lovely option. It’s just 10–15 minutes from the port, no dirt road, and it’s a fairly big beach that’s totally unorganized so bring your own umbrella if you need shade (though there are plenty of trees around the edges, which helps a lot). It’s also one of those beaches that actually works on windy days. Yes, you might get some sand flying around (the classic Greek “ammovolí” moment), but the sea usually stays calm enough to swim comfortably. Simple, peaceful, and still kind of underrated definitely one of my go-tos.”

Παραλία Πισωλιμνιωνας

“Not the most famous beach, but honestly this is where I go when the wind is just out of control and I still want to swim. It’s one of the most protected spots on the island in terms of weather. (In my opinion) It’s a pretty big and totally unorganized beach, with calm, beautiful waters and a peaceful vibe. I always suggest heading to the right side of the beach. There are two different routes to get there, and I definitely recommend taking the upper road so that you avoid the bumpier parts of the dirt road. ”

Paralia Piso Gialia

“A solid beach option if you’re planning to spend time in Chora and want to squeeze in a swim nearby. It’s nothing wild or remote, but it’s more than decent, clean, accessible, and easy to reach. Great for a quick dip before or after exploring town. ”

“This is THE SPOT. If there’s only one place you go for proper food on the island make it this one. Honestly, if you skip it… you might as well not have come. 🤨 It’s a long-running family-owned taverna that I’ve been going to for years. Despite how busy they get, the quality and service have always been solid consistent, warm, and just really well done. Their meat and cheese are local and often their own, and you can genuinely taste the difference. Super friendly people, very down-to-earth, and hands-down the best meat on the island. Bonus: there are animals around the place (horses, deers, etc.) which makes it fun to walk around a bit if you’re waiting for a table.”

The Aegean Balcony

“Set up high on the island, this spot offers a beautiful panoramic view, it’s the kind of place where you just want to sit, eat slowly, and stare out at the sea. It’s known for hearty, home-style cooked dishes, with classic Andros flavors and a peaceful, simple atmosphere. Ideal for a chill lunch or dinner with a view. ”

Almi Tavern Andros

“By now, this place has become one of the better-known spots on the island, and for good reason. Think gourmet-style dishes that are still full of flavor, beautifully presented but never pretentious. Located just above Batsi, it also offers amazing views, especially around sunset. In my opinion, it’s a must-visit on Andros.”

Stamatis Tavern

“This place has been around for years in Batsi, and while the menu has taken on a more modern twist recently, it still delivers great food in a really pleasant setting. It’s a go-to spot for seafood, with well-cooked, fresh dishes and a relaxed, seaside atmosphere. A great mix of old and new, definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.”

“This one’s quiet, simple, and reliable a great pick if you want something low-key and satisfying after the beach. The food leans more toward home-style dishes, nothing fancy, but it hits the spot. Bonus: it’s super close to a few beaches, so in some cases you can even walk there straight from your swim. No car, no drama — just good food and a calm vibe.”

“A bit tucked away and not as widely known, but honestly one of my classic spots to go to. The food is genuinely delicious, and the surrounding landscape is beautiful quiet, green, and peaceful. Perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner, especially if you’re coming from Fellos beach, which is just around the corner. If you’re into good food without the crowds, this is a 100% yes from me. ”

“If you’re staying near Chora and looking for a solid seafood taverna, this is a great option. Well-cooked dishes, and a relaxed setting that makes it ideal for either lunch or dinner. Simple, local, and totally hits the spot if you’re craving fish or meze by the sea.”

“A newer addition to the island that’s already getting good buzz. The space is beautifully done, with a great atmosphere and a lovely view definitely one of those places where you want to sit and stay a while. Pretty sure you can also drop by just for coffee, which makes it a nice option throughout the day. If you’re nearby, it’s absolutely worth a visit even just for the vibe. ”

“This one’s a little outside of Chora, and it’s got that perfect sunset dinner energy calm, beautiful atmosphere and really tasty food. If you’re into timing your dinner with the golden hour (just a suggestion 😄), it’s a lovely place to unwind after a beach day. Definitely a slower, more romantic vibe, and totally worth the stop if you’re in the area.”

NeoBar Andros

“Somewhere between a bar and a casual eatery, Neobar is tucked away in Chora and brings a more alternative, artsy vibe to the island’s food scene. They serve great pizza, and it’s also a nice spot for evening drinks in a laid-back setting. ”

Belitsa Restaurant

“Right on Batsi’s main road, this place is super convenient for a post-beach meal or something before your night out. It might look a bit touristy at first glance, but the food is really solid, and it’s a great option if you’re staying or hanging around the area. ”

“Just like Als, this place is up on the hill, so you get to enjoy your drink with a gorgeous view over Batsi, especially at sunset. It usually starts out chill and relaxed, but on busier nights or when there’s an event, it naturally turns into something more lively, with music and a fun crowd.”

“Truth is Batsi doesn’t have that many bar options, so this one earns its spot on the list. It’s a solid pick for a night out, especially during high season, when it’s usually packed and full of energy. Not the most unique or alternative place, but if you’re in the area and want a drink, it definitely delivers. ”

NeoBar Andros

“One of the most alternative and low-key spots on the island tucked away in Chora, it’s the kind of place you might miss if you don’t know it’s there. It’s known for its great cocktails and really good pizza, so it fits both categories perfectly. The vibe is laid-back but cool, with a slightly artsy, offbeat energy that makes it stand out from more mainstream bars.”

“This bar is located near a small square in Chora, which already makes it a super cute and charming spot to sit and unwind especially in the evening. It has a relaxed vibe, perfect if you’re not in the mood for anything too loud or crowded. Plus, from what I know, they also serve small bites to go with your drink always a win.”

“Not the most well-known place, but definitely one that’s worth checking out if you’re around in the afternoon or early evening. It’s a charming traditional deli that offers a lovely selection of wines and beers, along with simple but delicious meze made by the kind gentleman who runs it. It doesn’t usually stay open too late, so try to catch it earlier in the day. Also a great place to stop for a Greek coffee or to pick up local products it’s got that calm, authentic vibe you don’t find everywhere.”

It focuses on high-quality ingredients and offers a range of options like smoothie bowls, fruit & cereal mixes, and little sandwiches all beautifully presented, like mini pieces of art. The staff is really kind and welcoming. Whether you’re into Greek coffee or herbal teas, their drink selection is also worth mentioning. Honestly, it’s the kind of place where you leave feeling good inside out.”

Gerolimni lake ( γερολιμνη)

“This is one of those places that locals know and love, but it somehow hasn’t hit the radar of most tourists yet which honestly makes it even better. Gerolimni is a natural pool nestled in the middle of Andros’ wild landscape, and it’s absolutely worth the adventure to get there. You’ll want to dedicate a good portion of your day to this trip, and definitely start early. The route itself is beautiful, but be aware: there’s a relatively narrow dirt road to get you part of the way (medium difficulty level), and parking space is limited once you reach the bottom. After that, there’s a small trail you need to hike down, so wear proper shoes (trainers at least), and ideally go with a higher car just to be safe. Important note: you are going there to swim, so don’t forget your swimsuit the spot is incredible for a dip. Before you go, check online guides or trail apps (there are a few dedicated to Andros) to make sure you follow the correct path down.”

Pithara Waterfalls

“Andros is full of surprises, and one of its coolest features is the number of spots with fresh running water not something you expect on a typical Cycladic island. This one is a super easy walk, more of a relaxed stroll through greenery than a serious hike. You’re not going here for a swim, but more to enjoy the beautiful landscape, walk under the trees, and check out the small waterfalls along the way. It’s a perfect little escape if you want to take a break from the beach or just stretch your legs somewhere calm and refreshing. Definitely a nice contrast to the dry landscape you might expect elsewhere.”

Ζόρκος

“This is a truly unique excursion not for everyone, but absolutely worth it if you’re up for something different. Right above Zorkos beach, you’ll find a small cave nicknamed “Tripes” (holes) that opens out to a stunning sea-view framed by two natural arches . You’ll start from just before Zorkos beach and walk the well-marked Trail 20 (about 1.1 km, ~30 min) . There are a few spots along the coastal path with spectacular views, and the final descent into the cave is “medium difficulty” narrow, rocky, and requires care. Bring a small flashlight and wear trainers for safety. It’s a short but rewarding journey: about 30 minutes one way, with around 47 m elevation change . And yes, once you’re back on the beach, a swim is essential. Νο”

Goulandris Museum of Contemporary Art, Andros

“If you’re spending time in Chora and want to take in a bit of culture, the Goulandris Museum of Contemporary Art is a must-visit. It’s a small but elegant museum nestled in the heart of the old town, featuring works from renowned Greek and international artists. The space itself is beautifully curated and peaceful ideal for a quiet afternoon break from the sun and sea. A great stop if you’re already wandering through Chora’s charming alleys, and especially worth it if you enjoy art and design.”

Panachrantou Monastery

“A truly peaceful and awe-inspiring spot on the island, the Monastery of Panachrantou is perched high on the mountainside and offers one of the most breathtaking views in Andros. The drive up is winding but rewarding, and the scenery as you approach is full of natural beauty and serenity. The monastery itself is still active, home to a small number of monks who warmly welcome visitors. The atmosphere is deeply tranquil and respectful, and the architecture blends harmoniously with the rugged surroundings. Definitely a place to visit if you’re looking to experience the spiritual side of the island, or if you’re just in the mood for stunning panoramic views. A great stop during a road trip or combined with nearby hikes.”

The path to the bridge is short and scenic, making it a lovely little detour during your day. Ideal for nature lovers, romantic souls, or anyone seeking a quiet moment in a magical setting.”
