Me and Syros met back in 2019 and somehow, I find myself coming back every year, even for a 2-day trip. I hadn’t heard any great recommendation about Syros, it was presented as a “meh” destination. However, I realised very quickly, that there was some kind of magic in this island• it is beautiful, for sure, but it is also romantic, majestic and so different from any other island of Cyclades. I really enjoy the fact that I get to decide whether I want to spend my day in the most calming and lonely way or I want to have a party all day long• it is the perfect destination, whether you want to visit with your partner, friends or family. Ready to have some fun?🤫
Beaches🏖️
Well, Syros isn’t known for her great beaches, however I firmly believe that those who support that don’t know how to read a weather forecast and go to the wrong destination on the wrong day🫣🤫
If you are part of this community, hey and welcome. Vari’s beach is a great choice for you. It is a little downwind bay that gives you the opportunity to relax in a sunbed or lay your towel next to an αλμυρίκι😅
If you have the chance you most definitely must visit the beach of Galissas, Foinikas, Poseidonia and Megas Gialos but first be sure to check the direction of the wind. It is a very drivable destination, so if you have the chance, you can choose to see all of them, as they are accessible by road.🚗
🤤
Now, if we’re talking about food… it’s my time to shine! 😆
If you visit Kini, make sure to make a reservation at “δύο τζιτζίκια στα αρμυρικια” a great family restaurant by the sea with so many great small dishes, perfect to share!
If you are somewhere near the Ermoupoli, make sure you visit this “Τσιπουράδικο της Μυρσινης”. I am drooling just thinking about it. The most delicious fish oriented dishes I’ve ever had! And the portions are huge! Make sure to walk to “Django” afterwards for the most amazing and homemade ice cream you’ll ever have!
Night out!💃
Now, the Ano Syros is a mystery game and somehow I kinda want to stay that way for you. It has 3 entrances and if you want to find somewhere to sit you need to look for some kind of music or smell. Fun fact: it is created in a labyrinth way so the local people could get away from the pirates back in the day.
Make sure you go before the sunset because the view is mesmerising!
If you choose to stay in Ermoupoli, “Koutsiko” is a great way to start. Perfect for some cocktails! I hate to say it, because it is so known, but “Ciel” is also a great choice! The view is something else and the signature cocktails are awesome! Now, if you indeed wanna party, all the ways end in “Suerte”. It stays open until late in the night and it has very upbeat music!
